408-733- 3760 “Why Do I U se this Photo in My Ad?” And what you should know about it… Dear friend, “I know you.” That’s what people usually say when they meet me in town. Then they say, “You’re Dr. Christian. I’ve seen your ad or web page with that picture of you and those two cute little kids.” Well, perhaps I should tell you a little more about that photo, and why I use it on my web site. Let’s start with me, the guy in the middle. 20 years ago I read something that changed my life forever. Let me tell you my story. Back then, I was a College student taking the grueling classes needed to apply for medical school. Why medical school? I didn’t know. All I knew was I wanted to help people live better, healthier, more pain free lives. I have never been one to take drugs and planning a career in medicine created an inner civil war between the choice of career path and my fundamental belief system about health. Don’t get me wrong, emergency medicine is awesome. But I quickly realized that the philosophy of medicine did not have anything to do with health. Then, one day, I read something that made my blinders come off. I can remember to this day exactly where I was at that time. I was standing in line at Safeway and picked up an issue of something, it might have been a Reader’s Digest or something similar, and started reading while waiting to get checked out. And there it was, my calling, a brief article about chiropractic that would change my life forever. It talked about how chiropractic philosophy is different from medicine in the sense that the body is a self-healing, self-regulating mechanism and that it has the ability to heal itself if given the proper conditions. I remember thinking “Wow, this is amazing!” I went home and researched chiropractic more and went straight into chiropractic school a few months later without ever actually having met a Doctor of Chiropractic or been to a chiropractic office. Let me tell you, this crazy idea did not win any support from my parents, “chiro-…what!!!??? This is ‘Silicon Valley’, computers is where it’s at!” They thought I’d gone totally mad! Since then, I have become a chiropractor, and over the last 14 years I have served well over 100,000 patient visits, many of those people who sit day in and day out at computers. Now for those other two little trouble makers in the picture, Jessica and Michael, they have both been getting chiropractic care since the first week of their lives. I thought all that twisting of the head and neck at delivery can’t possibly be healthy for their little spines.
